Are you ready to give your skin the ultimate glow?  Combine these ingredients in a smoothie to nourish and beautify your skin with the ultimate beauty smoothie.

Top up on Beta-carotene, the precursor to Vitamin A. Vitamin A is critical for skin repair and maintenance, particularly if you suffer from dry and flaky skin. Beta-carotene acts as antioxidant and is found in brightly coloured foods.   Think cantaloupe, peaches, beetroot, sweet potato and red peppers as well as greens like kale, spinach and asparagus. To maximise the nutritional value of beta-carotene foods blend them with healthy fats (like nuts or avocado). The body needs fats to convert these vitamin A precursors into the active form.

Healthy fats like those found in oily fish and avocados provide essential fatty acids that help keep the skin moisturised. Nuts are high in these essential fatty acids and also contain Vitamin E an important antioxidant.

Vitamin E is one of the key vitamins for healthy skin because of its antioxidant properties.  It helps fight free radicals like those found in pollution, cigarette smoke, processed foods and UV rays. Free radicals cause premature skin ageing such as wrinkles. Vitamin E also helps to strengthen the skins capillary walls to improve moisture and elasticity. Food sources high in vitamin E include: almonds, eggs, walnuts, avocados, asparagus, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, spinach, oatmeal and olives.

Vitamin C supports collagen, synthesis and helps keep skin supple. Many fruits and vegetables are great sources of Vitamin C, particularly citrus fruits. Food sources high in Vitamin C include: oranges, limes, lemons, grapefruits, strawberries, broccoli, kale, peppers, guava, red and green peppers, kale and parsley.

Protein is essential for healthy hair, skin and nails!  It also helps balance blood sugar levels, supports energy production and aids in weight management.  Add as scoop of your favourite protein powder or some raw nuts to your smoothie.
